Thinking Anglicans

still more on New Orleans

There is a very detailed article by Auburn Faber Traycik in the Christian Challenge which is titled TEC: “Clarified All…Questions”?

Also, the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church passed a resolution at its recent meeting, which ENS reports on as follows:

As it concluded its three-day fall meeting at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Dearborn, Michigan, the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church thanked the House of Bishops for its efforts that resulted in a statement to the Anglican Communion issued in September.

However, Council Resolution NAC026 said that where the bishops’ statement called “particular attention to the application of [General Convention] Resolution B033 to lesbian and gay persons, it may inappropriately suggest that an additional qualification for the episcopacy has been imposed beyond those contained in the constitution and canons of the church.”

Good on them for acknowledging the distress they inadvertently might have caused. They might not have done so but for that Howe letter. But either way, it was the compassionate thing to do.

Zechariah 7:9-10 “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.’”

Cheryl – you cannot pick and choose what you like from what the Lord says and ignore other things he says clearly and repeatedly…..he says lots of things TECUSA HOB ignore and if you read the OT and the NT, you will know that he does not react well to being ignored or misrepresented by people.

“you will know that he (God) does not react well to being ignored or misrepresented by people.”

This doesn’t seem to concern you in the least, NP, so why should Cheryl care?

choirboy – do you have one example where I tell people it is fine for them to do things which the bishops of the AC say are “incompatible with scripture”?????

I think the Bible has more than 7 verses, NP. What’s more, they do not exist in isolation. You can be obedient to many individual verses and still disobedient to the Gospel. And you’ve been told innumerable times how it is you disobey Scripture. I don’t think choirboy, or me for that matter, needs to chew that particular cabbage yet again.

NP, I didn’t say anything about telling people it is fine for them to do things that “certain” bishops of the AC are saying is incompatible with scripture. You, yes, YOU are picking & choosing. Own up to it!! Take some freaking responsibility for what you have done on this blog site for the first time in your life!! You are using SELECTED verses of scripture to condemn a significant portion of the world’s population. But in your smug self-righteousness you think you are so right in your scriptural interpretation (you don’t even think it’s that, you think it IS… Read more »

do calm yourself, choirboy…… for all your attempts to dodge it, Lambeth 1.10 says certain behaviour is “incompatible with scripture” and as the ABC says, it represents the “mind of the Communion”…… think you will find I am not pushing my personal agenda but the agreed position of the AC (which happens to be consistent with the RCC and most of Christianity in the last 2000 years…..)

Ever wondered if maybe you are wrong and are deviating from scripture and tradition for other reasons apart from what scripture says and means?

Do you ever wonder it about yourself, NP?
