Lambeth: some perspectives from the sidelines

First, Jean Mayland of MCU wrote Holding together but going nowhere.

Second, two people from Inclusive Church have written personal reflections:

Clare Herbert “Beyond the Fringe” and

Greg Tucker Reflections on the Lambeth Conference.

Wow thanks to Jean M for this gem:

The answer lies in developing a spirituality for a long haul and getting practised at lifting oneself up from blow after blow.

Her questioner had asked her about how to survive in a church which simply hews, more towards Don't Ask, Don't Tell than towards Truth Telling, particularly when it comes to those fav hot button target groups of the moment, talented women and queer folks.

Buy this dear lady some really, really, really good tea ... and email me the bill?

Part of the joy of being Anglican is to rub shoulders virtually with just such global progressive believers as Jean M. Imagine, we are in the same global fellowship with Akinola and Jean M and all the others? Which half of the baby shall we cut off to preserve the strict conservatives? I'll do house church with Jean M any day of the week, even with Akinola (retired?) after the purge if he dares to open himself in prayer with us all whom he has so self-righteously cast out of the new fangled conservative Anglican Communion.

Oh, yes, Jean M. When I read that commentary by her (linked from Pluralist's blog), I thought, "This lil light of mine, I'm gonna make it shine!"

Deborah Pitt has made contact, in public on my blog comments, offering another letter.
