more responses to the CofE marriage report

Earlier responses are here, here, here, and here. I’ve still not seen any attempt, except on Twitter, to defend the report.

Alan Wilson has added this graphic comment: Kismet.

Jonathan Clatworthy has added a further piece: Cuckoo in the nest?

From the USA, Mark Harris has written Is it time for Anglican communion by free association?

Anne Brooke has written Equal Marriage: the Work of The Devil?

Frank Cranmer agreed with me that much the funniest response remains this one.

Alan Wilson has a plain-speaking response in the comments at also.

It ends: "There is precious little evidence here that those who produced this shoddy schoolboy nonsense have actually spent the 15 years since Lambeth 1998 listening to the experience of gay and lesbian Christians, reading the Bible, or studying Biology."

Interesting comments at Mark Harris' site re: free association.

His article simply begs the question already in play: at what level? To be sure, there would be a great deal more peace and a lot less litigation and money spent if every unit of TEC--parish, diocese--were free to associate as they wished in a new Anglican Communion. But this is precisely what is NOT happening. Let it happen and devise a plan for its prosecution and enormous amounts of money would be saved, and associations would be formed internationally.

I concur, that Beaker Folk/cyber-coenobites non-blessing non-rite is hilarious!
Unfortunately, I could easily see it being adopted by a number of TEC dioceses as well as by the CofE

The "Cuckoo" piece was very helpful - the unAnglicanness" of much of the Evangelical wing of the CofE had long puzzled me.
