On the first of these links provided, we have the scattered comments from various sources on the so-called ‘Anglican Mainstream’ website – one of them, from the well-known ‘Virtueonline’ commentator, David Virtue, posits what he sees as a deliberately oppositional set of Anglican meetings in different parts of the world. (1) the Global South (including Gafcon) in Cairo – under the leadership of Abp. Mouneer Anis, and (2) in Rome – under the Leadership of the ABC. Bizarre. The Pope’s own legate sent greetings to the GS meeting.

If you want to concoct scenarios, Mr Smith, you’d do better to worry about a GS-Canterbury-RC-Orthodox agreement on far more than they disagree about.

The Secretary General of the AC is himself a GS member.

we kid ourselves if we think Welby (let alone the Pope) would coordinate in any way to undermine the GS;especially as they are both natural supporters of the GS. The pope wouldn’t care. Welby has many GS friends. No point pretending people are working for a liberal communion when they are not and when they clearly are keen on the large numbers they see globally.

Matthew 7:15-16 applies to Archbishops as well as anyone else.

Yet, it doesn’t mean a thing if we are given no immediate controls to drive away the wolf or pull up the thistle.
