It does look as if there is a determined effort to defer any further discussion of sexuality matters until after the next Lambeth Conference. Can anyone suggest why this should be the case?

When it comes to institutions and difficult issues, never resolve today that which can be put off until tomorrow.
Do you really need to ask?
Looks like “The Church and the Bomb” – Part Two. Perhaps the General Synod should ask President Trump to attend the debate and use his persuasive presidential powers to urge a vote in favour of denuclearisation? After all he seems to have worked his magic on “Little Rocket Man” of North Korea and persuaded Kim to give them up.
Actually Trump’s meeting with Kim Jong Un opens up two positive initial possibilities for progress towards reducing and ultimately eliminating nuclear weapons. (1) A nuclear weapons free zone in NE Asia like the one in SE Asia and elsewhere, see: https://www.un.org/disarmament/wmd/nuclear/nwfz (2) Having South Korea AND the United States ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, to be followed by China, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel and Pakistan, so that the treaty enters into force. Why am I not surprised that Mr. Nye is at the heart of this distraction? (And believe me, it is a distraction. Putin rejoices at his all-too-successful attacks on Western democracies. Nukes are the only thing that keeps him at bay militarily.)
Perhaps Synod members will offer amendments that reflect what they want Synod to focus on.
