I see the bishops are responding to criticism in the spirit it was offered. Speak for England, Frank!

Thanks for posting this.

It seems ++Griswold has truly lost it.

Look, the Presiding Bishop's words are overly strong, but there's no denying that the people he named and others at Dromantine (where, quite frankly, they and all other activists did not belong) were spinning the media, facilitating leaks from conservative primates to the press, and paying for a "celebratory" dinner hosted by Archbishop Akinola and attended by Global South primates who left the meeting premises even as the communique was being finalized.

I wouldn't say that they manipulated the primates, several of whom are pretty media savvy individuals, and all of whom certainly think and believe for themselves. That comment smacks of a Western imperialist attitude which underlies far too many comments about the Global South primates. But these Americans unquestionably promoted and nurtured dissension, which is wholly unChristian.

Frank Griswold may not be the right person to reprimand them, but a reprimand is necessary.

As is space for real, non-polarized prayer and conversation, which virtually no one in any US faction seems to grasp.
