Comments: InclusiveChurch letter from Columbus 3

"The most frequent comment from the Presiding Bishop, Frank Griswold, was “where are we?” At a number of points nobody knew."

I have little doubt that those who have dumped on +Frank for the last nine years (and especially the last 3), will mock him for *this* too.

But to me, the amazing thing is NOT that a "Primate of the Anglican Communion" would say this---it's that he would *let* himself be heard, by all, saying this.

When one recalls that bishop at Lambeth in '98, who claimed that the bishops were "like God the Father" (dwelling in light inaccessible?), then TEC's (and particularly +Frank Griswold's) *transparency*---always humble, sometimes humiliating!---becomes all the more startling.

Unlike the proverbial "Dad driving the car" (who won't EVER stop for directions), if +Frank ever doesn't know "where we are", then he'll simply ask (and not pretend he knows all!).

God bless you, +Frank Griswold. May your successor inherit a "double portion" of your humility! :-)
