Comments: news from the world of realigning dioceses

Bishop Duncan invited the bishops of the so-called Anglican catholic Church to attend the launch of ACNA. he replied in part...

"In summary, then, we see in the ACNA the fundamental alterations in traditional Anglican faith, worship, order, and practice that led to the formation of our own Continuing Church in 1978. We would be glad to establish conversations with your ecclesial body in hopes that you may, having freed yourselves of the Episcopal Church, continue further on the same path by decisively breaking from a corrupt Anglican Communion and by returning to the central tradition of Christendom in all matters, including the male character of Holy Orders, the evil of abortion, and the indissolubility of sacramental marriage. We recommend to your prayerful attention the Affirmation of Saint Louis, which we firmly believe provides a sound basis for a renewed and fulfilled Anglicanism on our continent."

Do you get it , Bishop Duncan is a liberal!

Mr. Duncan isn't a liberal RIW he quite simply wants his own kingdom. He'll do or say anything and use anyone or anything to get the title "your grace." He openly licensed a gay, partnered priest in the diocese of Pittsburgh and even recommended to a gay deacon seeking ordination to apply to another diocese since Duncan felt he was called to serve in the priesthood. This is the same man who stoked the fires of the homophobic Akinola and played the "we don't want a gay bishop" card to get to this point. When this didn't bode so well, Duncan and his minions then attacked TEC as renouncing the Trinity and the creeds.

People often wonder why Christianity is losing people. Between Roman Catholics who used institutionally sanctioned (as well as governmental) discrimination to prevent women from being able to aspire to the priesthood to Evangelicals making up rules of who's in and who's out, I've certainly have thought about leaving.

There are priest in the diocese of Pittsburgh (SC) who won't go to communion if a woman priest is on the altar. I sat at a meeting in which one of the Anglo-Catholic priests said to a woman priest (and one of Duncan's biggest supporters)
that he "thought she is a lovely lady but did not recognize her right to celebrate the mass. (something about valid consecration but the quote escapes me)." It's a house of cards.

On the matter of property, it will take some time before either side gets any money. Morgan Stanley has about 20 million American Dollars in escrow. This might be good since the market is still down.

Gee BobinSWPA, could it be that we do a good enough job of attacking ourselves, let alone "those people" that we are the laughing stock of a younger generation? Speak for yourself! Try looking in the mirror.

You are correct on one matter, Christianity is losing people due to this nonsense.

Thank you Bobin

Insulting and repressing females is only one reason Christianity and Jesus have been discredited (Jesus can't blame Satan for his nearly thousand years of mismanagement and abdication of responsibility). Even worse is its abuse of children, especially orphans e.g.the recent court findings against the Irish Catholic church. Not only were orphans abused, the Vatican itself has blood money as a proportion of the Irish governments annual payments to support each orphan was skimmed to the vatican.

In the meantime, literally thousands of incidents of abuse (including sexual) occurred within hundreds of institutions for decades. One example I read was of a family of three institutionalised because their mother dared to escape an abusive husband. (Did she or the goverment know they were guaranteeing the children would be raped, insulted and abused?)

Jesus might have turned a blind eye to the abuse of children and orphans (for centuries). The priests' flattering and tithes did not placate the Daughter of Zion, who recalls God's promises to the weak and vulnerable.

Exodus 22:22-24 "Do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused..."

Isaiah 1:17 "Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow." (GLBT certainly fit the category of oppressed, so they are encouraged, as are women and gentiles, all of whom are covered by Zion's Covenant of Peace. That covenant that Jesus and his priests never got around to honouring).

Isaiah 10:1-2 "Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless."

Malachi 3:5 "“So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify... against those who... oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me,” says the LORD Almighty."

"having freed yourselves of the Episcopal Church"

My, my, such language. "Freed yourselves". Really now. A bit much, but I suppose having to get along with people who disagree with you is a bit of an "oppressive burden", at least for you, and when they won't put up with your tantrums, I guess separating yourself from them CAN feel like "freedom". Can we expect a rousing chorus of "By the Rising of the Moon", or is that suspiciously Wiccan to you?

"a corrupt Anglican Communion"

Oh, come on now, Your Grace. This is over the top even for you! It conjures up images of bishops accepting bribes if they will just sell out the Gospel to the evil liberals. But that was the point of using the word, now wasn't it? That and the lovely little frisson of holiness that goes through you when you make yourself look so righteous. But that appearance is really only in your own eyes, your Grace.

"the central tradition of Christendom in all matters, including the male character of Holy Orders, the evil of abortion, and the indissolubility of sacramental marriage."

But...but...but...don't you have ordained women among your number, Your Grace? And aren't some of your coreligionists divorced and remarried? Even among the ordained? A bit of advice, your Grace: if you are going to preach a particular moral stance, it is pretty much required of you as a bishop in the Church that you actually LIVE by that particular moral stance. Furthermore, if you are going to accuse the Church of corruption, prove it. Disagreeing with you is NOT corrupt by definition.
