Comments: ACNA: another critical view

An interesting read. I still find it odd that "autonomy" and "interdependence" are set off against each other as opposed notions, whereas, if I recall correctly, the phrase that emerged in the discussion process leading to Windsor and the Covenant was "communion with autonomy and accountability." Interdependence does not mean submission. It is a two way street: the pledge is for us to bear one another's burdens, not control each others' lives. (See Covenant 3.2, which calls for mutual respect, not control.) So this means, perhaps that the Communion will need to put up with gay bishops in one province, while the province with a gay bishop may have to accept that this means less participation in certain forums, particularly by that bishop -- and to learn to stop stamping its feet and complaining.
