Comments: CEC comments on Equality Bill and Adoption Agencies

"CEC notes that claims are often made that this involves a matter of religious 'doctrine' but, for example, Catholic teachings on sexual orientation are not to be considered as 'core doctrine', and are officially recognized by the Vatican and Catholic theologians world-wide as 'Third Level' teachings and subject to development."

This statement by CEC clearly recognizes that 'Catholic' teaching on sexual orientation is not 'Core Doctrine'. This was also recognized by the St.Michael's Report issued by a team of respected theologians from the Canadian Anglican Church.

Why do the mainline Churches who subscribe to a basic 'catholic' doctrinal standard on human sexuality continue to want to raise the subject as almost of matter of First Order doctrinal status?

It is past time that the whole Body of Christ, whose Incarnate Lord is about to be celebrated by all of us as 'Redeemer of All' this Easter-tide, recognized the authenticity of faithful monogamous same-sex relationships which, though not subject to 'core-doctrinal' disquisition, are intrinsic to the lives of many good people - clergy and laity - who are still marginalized by many in the Church.

What is often forgotten, is that Christ has only 'sinners' to preach the Gospel - those whom Christ came into this world to redeem. Deo Gratias!
