In the midst of the Mechanics of Maintenance discussion at this Synod, it was an inspiration to listen to the Presiding Bishop of TEC in her address to the members. After outlining the equivalences of both Scottish and U.S. Provinces - in inheriting both Celtic and Pictic ancestry - Bishop Katharine pointed out their shared provenance of relationship to the See of Canterbury, as independent Churches, but with a common heritage of both catholic and evangelistic missionary tradition.
Bishop Katharine was careful to mention the need for an ongoing missionary outlook - towards the reconciling power of the Gospel in the lives of all human beings, who are created in the common image and likeness of a loving reconciling God.
This sounds like a pretty good call to action, on the part of both Churches - and the rest of the Anglican Communion of Churches - towards a joint determination towards the implementation of a new culture of justice and freedom from hypocrisy, which alone can draw together people and nations into God's Commonweal. Good Stuff Here!
