Comments: General Synod - Covenant debate

Perrhaps this paper, delivered to every member of general Synod, might be the very first inkling some of them have that there is a crisis in the Anglican Communion - that does not need Covenant medicine. What could ensue, from passage of The Covenant, especially Section 4, is an even further degree of uncertainty about the prophetic nature of what has happened in the North Americasn Churches that has changed the face of Anglicanism - from that of a genial form of Club, to that of a Gospel-pioneering outreach to the world, where sexuality and gender are a reality - demanding justice and common-sense treatment.

If the covenant passes in the C.of E. General Synod, this will be a signal of stand-off from the ethic of sweet Reason, which has formerly allowed our Church to be both Catholic & Reformed; High Church and Evangelical, Black and White, Rich and Poor, and (only informally) Gay and Straight. It's time to come out of Closets!

'...its main purpose is to create the means to expel The Episcopal Church (USA) and the Anglican Church of Canada ...'

Exactly, nothing more needs to be said. I am glad to see that the forces against the Covenant are massing, let's hope they succeed in killing this at the Synod before it gets any further.
