Comments: opinion

I believe that Giles Fraser hits the nail on the head when he speaks of the poverty and lack of help for Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land. This is an area of religious difference that has descended into pure political convenience on the part of the State of Israel. While Christians have a definite filial relationship with the Jews - as a people who provided us with the Messianic Saviour, how does the State's present oppression of their Christian neighbours reflect 'Mishpat' - that Hebrew concept of 'Peace and Mercy'?

While one can understand the need for a strong Israeli State - in the situation of a surrounding and militant Arab culture - oppression of a minority should never be part of that political set-up.
