Comments: proposed new diocese for West Yorkshire

I was at the Ripon & Leeds synod meeting this morning. There would be much disappointment in this diocese, and I imagine in Bradford, if the scheme came to nothing after all the work that has been done, in the face of the enthusiasm for the scheme, and in the light of the majorities in the synod votes of thse two dioceses. Perhaps the Archbishop will still take it to General Synod, or perhaps a way can be found to bring forward a scheme involving just Ripon & Leeds and Bradford more quickly that we are told is possible.

Wakefield in denial. Speaks volumes for its leadership team and where it is. The scheme will go through. Better to be in the tent with a voice than outside with the future being dictated to you.
