Given the Church of England's obsession with sexual matters and general negativity about pretty well anything, these figures represent a triumph.
Parishes are not generally aware why these statistics are being collated and for what purpose so there is little if any, rigour. So although we might just discern trends, any deeper analysis is flawed. Garbage in, garbage out. I am trying to educate parishes in my diocese about the rationale and necessity of these.
Concerned Anglicans comment is interesting. In my mind it raises the question ..why do people go to C of E Churches, and what sort of people are they? An intriguing field for research I think.
