Why do the press keep stating new 'female Dean' new 'Female Bishop'
Surely the are all equal now
Wycliffe Hall seems to be the new preferred bidder I note
The female Deans are beginning to catch up with the female Bishops 6 as opposed to 10 (2 Diocesans and 8 Suffragans). York, Salisbury, Birmingham, Guildford, Bury St. Edmunds and now Southwell .
Nicola is the third successive serving Archdeacon to be appointed Dean of Southwell, following John Guille (Archdeacon of Winchester) and David Leaning (Archdeacon of Newark).
Fr David don't forget Norwich, for 7. But of course, that's 7 female Deans to 41 male Deans with 2 vacancies, compared to 10 female Bishops to 101 male Bishops with 3 vacancies (I think!), so proportionally, the Deans are doing better.
In the meantime, great to see the secular press using English correctly to talk of female Deans instead of the ecclesiastical circles which continue to insist on using "women" as an adjective and never talking in parallel of "men bishops".
