A new group has announced its existence:
Accepting Evangelicals
… is a new open network of Evangelical Christians who believe the time has come to move towards the acceptance of faithful, loving same-sex partnerships at every level of church life, and the development of a positive Christian ethic for gay and lesbian people.
Accepting Evangelicals
… is open both to
people who believe that the Bible does not condemn loving, faithful same-sex relationships which are built on mutual commitment and self-giving love.and to people who, although they do not personally hold this view are willing to accept the integrity of those who do.
One thing I notice on the membership page is this:
Confidential Membership [ is available] to those who fear that their public support would put them at risk of prejudice or discrimination.
How sad that this is necessary.

How interesting, that in the American Christian context, it was Evangelical LGBTs (and their allies) who first came together to acknowledge and celebrate their lives in Christ (as both Evangelical Christian and gay: I speak of the Metropolitan Community Church, formed in 1968). However, it’s also a regrettable part of the American (Protestant) Christian tradition, that such a celebration required the founding of a new denomination. I pray for the success of Accepting Evangelicals in remaining integrally Anglican.
