There were apparently 13 no votes and 20 abstentions. Did any of these 33 speak to the matter to indicate their motivations?

I can see that it might have been an entirely principled concern about precedent of banning folk from membership in an organization. Today the entirely odious BNP, but who’s next?

I hope that was the reasoning. The other possibility is to distressing to contemplate.

This, from Robert I Williams, seems a bit over the top – especially when he pledges unwavering allegiance to the R.C. Church, which has even banned women from serving in the sanctuary in any capacity whatsoever!

That’s funny – I went to an RC mass this Sunday and they had an altar girl. Who would have thought that stodgy old Providence, in the country’s most RC state, would be bucking the Vatican?
