A question from an overseas jurisdiction:

Having heard a lot about Dr.Canon Chris.Sugden’s negative attitude towards LGBT people in the Church; and that he is no longer a full-time clergy-person in the Church; how does he get on to General Synod? Is it by ‘special invitation’?

Fr Ron, Chris Sugden is a member of the House of Clergy elected to represent the diocese of Oxford wherein he is a priest in good standing.

“he is no longer a full-time clergy-person in the Church” Father Ron Smith

Apart from a curacy decades ago, Chris Sugden did not hold a post in the Church of England during his entire career. He will, however, have held – and continues to hold – a licence from his Bishop. His Crockford’s record will confirm.
