Noted that it was important to reflect on the stories they were telling each other in the wake of the vote on independence in safeguarding. There was some sense that the Synod vote was against safeguarding independence whereas it was instead a step to independent scrutiny and national operations”

They don’t get it. Independent scrutiny is not the same as independence.

A liturgical change for acknowledging God as the Creator needs approval under Canon B2, but not PLF. There are none so blind as cannot see.

Changing the Calendar is very clearly a change to something which is an alternative to the one in the BCP. It therefore requires full synodical approval. PLF is not alternative to a service in the BCP, so it is plausible to argue for a different route. People may legitimately disagree on the latter, but the status of the former is very clear.

Interesting that they actually use the word ‘crisis’ to describe the lack of vocations. I would agree that wellbeing is certainly a factor here, but also poor leadership has to be a feature. The CofE seems to be rudderless and lurching from one disaster to the next. Newcomers to ministry are going to want to feel secure in their new role; there are very few anchor points that I can see at the moment.
