This Day a Nigerian newspaper has ‘It’s No Sin Being Gay’, an interview with Davis Mac-Iyalla and Out from the Shadows, a further report on him. Both are by journalist Laurence Ani.

This was a brave move by both players and the paper that published it. I wish them all the best.

It is also timely, in an earlier thread this week someone commented that they had never heard that people had been turned off church because if its attitude to homosexuality.

I spent the night contemplating that in Nigeria, you would never hear these concerns as it would be likely to lead to a 5 year jail sentence. So apparently, there would never be a problem of GLBTs existing in Nigeria.

I also remember that this fracas strated because of a conference that demonstrated that 2000 Nigerian GLBTs (and/or supporters) did exist. Mind you there was a lot of correspondence on whether the conference even occurred and how many people actually did attend. Lots of attempts to get photos (that will come in useful when they are trying to get them imprisoned, I wonder if the legislation is going to be retrospective?)
