Insulting liberals and refusing to acknowledge their holy spark puts him in no position to "walk the talk of "mutual generosity"".

Rather, he wants the liberals to claim it was an outstanding success and stall reforms, whilst the conservative cronies work out how to turn back the reforms and disenfranchise the recently acknowledged.

All for one and one for all. Justice for all or there is no justice.

The poor are blessed and given the kingdom, the mourners are given laughter, and those who are hated, reviled and excluded on account of the Son of Man will have their reward in heaven.

But then, only those who have been on the margins for centuries and in these past thirty years have much stomach for the Magnificat and the Beatitudes.

For me, and my brothers and sisters, they are life. For those who would keep us on the margins they are a call for mutual generosity, for which read "stay in your place, wait, give way for the sake of peace", that is, peace writ small.

Why not just follow Jesus and 'Love one another as I have loved you'?

Archbishop Venables is insisting that the basic problem within the Communion was not effectively addressed. Does he not think that the extensive Bible Studies which took place within the Indaba Goups was not addressing that very problem - which seems to revolve around the Biblical task hermeneutics, and contextual interpretation?

Perhaps he may not have been at any of the studies, and did not avail himself of the reflections that were obviously taking place therein. Nor did any of his Global South colleagues attend the Studies - because they kept themselves apart by not attending the Conference. If you're not playing the Game, you can't expect to be deciding on the Rules.

In the meantime, his colleague, the Archbishop of Kenya, and others from the G.S. are continuing their illicit border-crossings in the territory of TEC and Canada. How Anglican is that? Orombi will never make Archbishop of Canterbury - but then, he wouldn't want to, would he? Perhaps he might try becoming the new Ethnarch of the Global South Church of the Sinless, based in Sydney.

Lois, I too have great love for the model of the Kingdom Mary gave us so long ago. All the same, I don't agree that gay people are marginalized on account of following the son of Man. The conservative misunderstanding is that by seeking recognition of ourselves as children of God, we don't follow Him, and that's why they marginalize us. We have done ourselves no favours by casting this in terms of human rights as the world understand those rights to be. We should be far more confident in referring to God's justice as something that does not need the world's validation, because it doesn't, than in giving the impression that a world that doesn't know Him is better at understanding His Gospel than we are. Of course, those conservatives who seem not to understand some of the most basic principles of the Gospel are no help in that regard either.
