Last week it was titled Reporters Begging, Press Officers Blagging, Bishops Blogging.

This week, it is Sex, Race and Religion in American Politics. Architectural Open Days in Britain.

The thing is, if you are going to do a high wire fence insiders only conference, you'd better manage the press well. Not only did this not happen, but they marginalised the enthusiasts and others at the fringe events too, and who could in some way be said to be like the laity of Anglicanism. So the upshot was quite negative and did no favours.

As one who does communications work in my secular life, I am constantly amazed that there are otherwise bright and educated people who labour under to foolish notion that you can shape media coverage by starving the media of all substance.
