Following the decision not to appoint an interim Bishop of Bangor, the Church in Wales has started the procedure to elect the next Bishop of Bangor. Details are in a notice published on the provincial website which is copied below. The vacancy is also advertised in the current issue of the Church Times (dated 10 April).

The Electoral College is reviewing expressions of interest and will meet from 16-18 June 2026 at Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno to elect the next Bishop of Bangor.

The Church in Wales has really taken a hammering over the past couple of years. The forced resignation of the previous bishop of Monmouth.. the same for last Archbishop and the almost unreal story of the former bishop of Swansea and Brecon leading to the inhibition of a previous Archbishop! As well as serious questions about another former Archbishop…have all left the new Archbishop, Cherry Vann in a very difficult place.. If all is well in the Church in Wales, why are statistics relating to the number of worshippers, baptisms, etc., still kept secret, even after the departure of the last archbishop who no doubt found them too embarassing? Are there any other British churches who do this?
