Thanks to Andrew for that thoughtful piece. I don’t consider restrained rhetoric essential – the Book of Common Prayer and the Authorised Bible are notably vigorous – but agree that decency, integrity, and compassion in politicians are essential. I’ve just finished Michelle Obama’s memoir ‘Becoming’, and am reminded that it is possible to have genuinely good people in politics. Or it was possible. God send it may be again, and soon.
