Posted by Simon Sarmiento on Monday, 7 December 2009 at 3:02pm GMT | TrackBackCongratulations, Tobias, and Susan in particular. My guess is that all 3 bishops-elect will get the needed number of consents, but that one of them will be close.
I think that the Bps and Standing Committees who voted to approve the current Bp of SC may well feel that this is an opportunity to do the right thing, since they can't go back and undo those consents to that liar.
I think I'm going to take an Advent Vow of Silence regarding the Fuzzy One of Lambeth.

Posted by: Tim on Monday, 7 December 2009 at 4:47pm GMT"Before the launch of GAFCON and FOCA (Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans), Anglican Churches in Africa intervened in US parishes where there was a difference in opinion over homosexuality by providing religious leadership that is more conservative, a practice that continues to this day" - Riazat Butt, Guardian -
Yes, Tim; perhaps Riazat's article may be 'a little behind the times' but still timely - when
the ABC declares TEC's move to ordain a partnered gay woman bishop, to be in defiance of a moratorium imposed by the 'Windsor Report' - a Report which was also defied by the African Bishops by their continuing acts of piracy into TEC and the Anglican Church of Canada.
The QUESTION still arises. Why does the ABC insist on upholiding the moratorium against the Ordination of Gay Bishops, while he seemingly winks at the moratorium against the invasion of other Provinces of the Church (TEC and A.c.of C.) by Niegeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Southern Cone?
Lets have a little attention to justice here!
In the meantime, TEC is a sovereign Church, with no legal responsibility to conform to legislation by other Provinces of the Anglican Communion. What it decides to do by its own canonical structure, it is allowed by law to do, n'est pas?Collegial sodality within the Anglcian Communion is by LOVE and not LAW. It always has been, Why change the modus operandi?
Posted by: Father Ron Smith on Monday, 7 December 2009 at 11:35pm GMTFather Ron Smith, I hope that our PB Schori and
ABC Williams are reading your postings and understanding your message. You truly speak for
a large number of Anglicans in the "Free World".
While we have many fine Bishops in the Episcopal
Church that are working for the same cause it does lend credence when clergy from other parts of the Anglicn Communion express their views on the present situation.
I look forward to reading your future comments.

Meanwhile, he is scheduled to speak at the Trinity Institute in January on "Theology and the our Marketplace." Is he going to talk about how he sold his soul for fake peace and quiet?
It frosts me that Trinity is getting $350 (about 212 GBP/236 euros) per registrant on this, and I assume RW is getting paid.
I would REALLY like Trinity to disinvite him.

Because we are now being judged by a sodality concerning LOVE AND LAW - that's what the opposition don't get...yet.

Well, there is another alternative. We could organize a picket against him. I am sure that there would be plenty of gay people who would love to show up to show him what they think of him. There are plenty of gay publications and organizations with e-mails and feeding them information on Williams’ reactionary attitudes would certainly motivate them to publicize his appearance and to get the ranks to show up.

Those are broadcast closed circuit, are they not? I've never participated, so will ask if they do broadcast them, does the format invite/permit questions from the audiecne?
I've tried and tried to give RW the benefits of a doubt, then had to stretch further to try to give him the benefits of a Machiavellian doubt. I'm tired, exhausted. Hard work. No results.
TGHaller, many thanks, and others too.
When we can fully expect/predict that the Chief Rabbi of UK can make palpable big tent public remarks which will call all of us together across our many differences; while RW patently will fail to do so? The jury is in. The large-voiced opera lady has indeed sung her very long, very sad, very dramatic aria.
If RW wants my time and attention from now on, he will have to earn it with something besides handwringing about what queer stuff will do us if we get tainted with a fatal spot of it. Ditto, for womens' ordination in general. Particularly ditto, for all the vexation about lesbian bishops.

This blog IS a picket line of sorts
Posted by: Hugh of Lincoln on Wednesday, 9 December 2009 at 8:46am GMTI, personally, think that the ABC's visit to the Trinity Institute, in Wall Street, would be a very good opportunity for lots of supporters of the LGBT community to inform the Archbishop of Canterbury about the immense damage his recent adverse reaction to TEC's decision to ordain women and gays in stable relationships to the episcopate has done to loyal Episcopalians in the U.S.A. and Canada.
Only when Rowan is made aware of the reaction of ordinary Church-goers to his continuing climate of disapproval of LGBT persons, will he be able to assess the immense dis-service he, and his conservative fellow Primates within the Communion, are doing to the cause of preaching the Gospel of inclusivity to those on the margin, not only in North America, but around the world.
Until, and unless, the ABC is brought face to face with those of us who believe that further abuse being perpetrated against LGBT persons is contrary to the gospel initiative; his personal agenda of 'Unity at any Price' within the Church will continue to wreak havoc among loyal Anglicans
